Your Uganda honeymoon safari begins with arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Our representative meets you at the arrivals hall and transfers you to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, the evening is yours. Entebbe is a pleasant small city on the shores of Lake Victoria and the garden hotels here make for a comfortable first night. We recommend an evening walk along the botanical gardens lakeside, one of the calmest introductions to Uganda you could have.

The drive from Entebbe to Jinja takes approximately two hours through Uganda’s green central region. On arrival, you head to the Source of the Nile for a boat trip to the point where Lake Victoria releases the river that will travel to Egypt. The afternoon is free for Jinja town, riverside walks, and settling into your lodge. This evening, dinner at your lodge with the sound of the Nile below you is the first of many memorable meals.
Staying at: Lemala Wild Waters Lodge, Jinja (Luxury)
Jinja gives you a full day of choice. Couples who want adventure can spend the morning white-water rafting on grade four and five rapids and the afternoon on a private sunset cruise. Couples who prefer something gentler can take a morning kayak trip, visit the local market, and spend the afternoon on a Nile river cruise watching hippos and birds on the calmer stretches of the river. Either way, this is a day that tends to feature prominently in the stories couples tell about their Uganda honeymoon.

The road west to Kibale takes you through Uganda’s fertile farming country, past tea plantations and crater lake districts. The drive is comfortable in our 4×4 safari vehicle and the changing landscapes keep it interesting. You arrive at your lodge in the Kibale area by mid-afternoon, with time to settle in and enjoy the crater lake views before a lodge dinner.

This morning you enter Kibale Forest with experienced guides for your chimpanzee trekking experience. The chimps are typically active in the early morning hours when they are feeding and moving through the forest. The trek can last between one and three hours depending on where the chimps have travelled. Your afternoon is free for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk, a relaxed guided walk through a community-managed wetland with excellent birdwatching and chances of seeing additional primate species.

The drive south to Queen Elizabeth passes through the Kasese corridor with views of the Rwenzori Mountains rising to your west. You arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in time for an afternoon game drive through the Kasenyi plains, one of the most reliable areas in Uganda for lion sightings. The Uganda kob mating grounds here also attract big cats and the open terrain makes for excellent viewing.
Staying at: Kyambura Gorge Lodge (Luxury)
Your morning begins with a game drive through the park, ideally heading to the Ishasha sector in the south to look for the famous tree-climbing lions in the fig trees. Return to the lodge for lunch and then head to the Kazinga Channel for your late afternoon boat cruise. This is one of the highlights of any Uganda honeymoon safari. Two hours on the channel watching wildlife at the water’s edge as the light softens is time that passes far too quickly.

A charter flight takes you from Kasese airstrip to Kisoro in the southwest, saving you hours of driving and adding a touch of aerial magic to the journey. The flight over Uganda’s landscapes is spectacular. On arrival at Kisoro, a community walk through the local highlands introduces you to the culture and daily life of communities living adjacent to the gorilla forest. An optional canoe trip on Lake Mutanda in the late afternoon is highly recommended.
Staying at: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge (Luxury)
This is the day. You start early with a briefing at the park headquarters before entering Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Your guide and tracker lead you through the rainforest, reading signs of the gorilla family’s overnight location to find them. When you reach the family, you have one hour. No more, no less. Use every second of it. Watch the silverback. Watch the mothers. Watch the juveniles doing things that look, with uncomfortable accuracy, like things small children do. Walk back to your vehicle in near silence. Go to dinner. Talk about what just happened.

Your final morning in Bwindi is spent with the Batwa community on a guided cultural walk through the forest. Batwa elders share their traditional knowledge of the forest, its medicinal plants, hunting practices, and the stories that have been passed down through generations. It is a fitting conclusion to a Uganda honeymoon safari that has been built on genuine encounters rather than performances. Your charter flight from Kisoro to Entebbe takes you home with a Rwanda border crossing view from the air that will be one of your last images of Uganda.
Staying at: Accommodation can be arranged in Entebbe for any overnight before an international departure.
