Emayian Luxury Camp sits within the hills overlooking Ololaimutiek Conservancy, approximately 250 kilometres from Nairobi. The drive from Nairobi takes four to five hours via the tarmac road through Narok, and for those who prefer to arrive by air, the nearest airstrip is Keekorok, 19 kilometres from the camp, with a transfer time of roughly 30 minutes.
The camp is situated about 1.5 kilometres from the Ololaimutiek gate, which gives guests exceptionally quick access to the national reserve for game drives. From the camp’s elevated position, you can actually see wildlife moving across the open plains below, which means the safari begins from the moment you arrive and does not truly stop until you leave.
The camp has 12 luxury tents, each fitted with an outdoor jacuzzi and private dining space on the terrace. This is not a small touch: the jacuzzi on our deck, with warm water and a direct line of sight across the Mara plains in the afternoon light, became the backdrop for some of the most peaceful hours of our honeymoon. James brought a glass of wine and we sat in the water watching a herd of zebra move across the landscape in the distance.
Inside, the tent was spacious and thoughtfully appointed: upholstered furniture in earthy tones, a king-size bed dressed in generous linen, an ensuite bathroom with a solar-heated shower, and a wardrobe and writing desk that made the space feel like a proper room rather than a temporary arrangement. The decor carries an African theme throughout without being heavy-handed about it.
The accommodation options at Emayian cover different group sizes. The Zebra Deluxe Tent is ideal for singles and couples. The Elephant Junior Suite accommodates small families or groups of three or four. The King Lions Suite is a two-bedroom option suitable for larger groups or families travelling together.
Emayian operates on a full-board basis with a four-course gourmet menu that impressed us more than we were expecting. The chefs create a menu that moves between Kenyan and international flavours, and the quality of the ingredients comes through clearly in every dish. Complimentary cocktails on arrival, an open bar for selected drinks throughout the stay, and the signature Emayian smash cocktail served at the sundowner lounge after game drives are all part of what the stay includes.
Private dining on your tent terrace can be arranged on request, which for a honeymoon is worth doing at least once. We had one dinner outside under the stars with a table set on our deck, the plains stretching away below us and the Mara’s night sounds rising from the valley. It was one of those evenings that require no conversation to be perfect.
The camp also offers a complimentary bush breakfast with live cooking on the day of checkout, which means your last morning is still an experience rather than a departure formality.

Game drives depart twice daily into the Masai Mara National Reserve and the surrounding conservancy in 4×4 vehicles with professional guides. Given the camp’s location directly beside the reserve entrance, drives begin quickly and spend maximum time in the field rather than on access roads.
The Mara is one of Kenya’s richest game viewing destinations year-round, but between July and October the Great Migration brings the additional spectacle of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle moving in their hundreds of thousands through the landscape. The Mara River crossings during this period are among the most dramatic wildlife events on earth.
Beyond game drives, the camp arranges nature walks, hot air balloon safaris at an additional cost of USD 550 per person, sundowner experiences, and cultural visits to local Maasai communities. The camp’s outdoor swimming pool provides a place to decompress between activities, and spa services are available on request.
The private jacuzzi in every tent is a genuine differentiator for honeymoon travellers. There is something about soaking in warm water above the Mara plains that combines romance and wildness in a way that is hard to replicate. Add to that the intimacy of the camp itself, the elevated position with its sweeping views, and the warm welcome of a team that genuinely seems to take pleasure in ensuring guests have a good time, and Emayian delivers a honeymoon experience that balances luxury with authenticity.
The rate includes all meals, selected alcoholic and soft drinks, a welcome cocktail and Maasai dance on arrival, a complimentary bush breakfast with live cooking on checkout day, and a complimentary sundowner cocktail after game drives.
Game drives are not included in the base accommodation rate and must be booked separately or as part of a safari package through Africa Bed of Roses Safaris.
Yes. The camp has Wi-Fi connectivity in common areas.
Approximately 250 kilometres, a drive of four to five hours, or a flight from Wilson Airport to Keekorok Airstrip of roughly 45 minutes.
The activity offering at Emayian goes well beyond the standard game drive, which is part of what makes it a strong honeymoon choice. Breakfast alone is an experience in itself, with options including a savanna bush breakfast, a jacuzzi premium breakfast, a hot air balloon breakfast, or a floating pool breakfast depending on how you want to start your morning. Lunch can be taken as a bushpark luncheon, a hilltop picnic, a luxury picnic, or a Maasai village lunch with a local host for something more culturally immersive. As the day winds down, sundowners can be enjoyed at the floating pool, out in the park, or at the jacuzzi, each setting giving you a different way to watch the Mara light change at dusk. Africa Bed of Roses Safaris can help you plan which of these experiences to build into your honeymoon package.
Certain rate categories at Emayian Luxury Camp are fully inclusive, covering onsite meals and beverages as well as applicable taxes and gratuities. It is worth confirming at the time of booking which inclusions apply to your specific package, as some dining options, special dinners, selected beverages, and additional amenities may carry separate charges. Africa Bed of Roses Safaris will clarify exactly what your rate covers when putting together your itinerary.
Yes. The camp has an outdoor pool set within a mountain retreat environment that lends itself well to quiet afternoons between game drives. The pool area is designed for relaxation rather than activity, which suits honeymooners looking to unwind in beautiful surroundings. Spa services are also available on site for couples who want to extend the sense of rest and recovery.
The nearest airport is Keekorok Airport, approximately 21.8 kilometres from the camp, which works out to roughly 46 minutes by road. Domestic flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport connect to Keekorok and other nearby airstrips serving the Masai Mara ecosystem. Africa Bed of Roses Safaris handles all flight bookings and transfer arrangements as part of your honeymoon package, so the logistics from Nairobi to camp are taken care of end to end.
Emayian Luxury Camp sits in the Ololaimtia hills, one kilometre from the gate of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The elevated hillside position gives the camp sweeping views over the surrounding landscape while keeping guests close enough to the reserve for efficient game drives. The blend of altitude, open skies, and proximity to the Mara makes it one of the more scenically positioned camps in the region.
