Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp

Kenya Acccommodation

Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp

The word tulia is Swahili for peaceful, and the camp that bears this name earns it comprehensively. Tucked just outside the boundary of Amboseli National Park with views of Mount Kilimanjaro filling the southern skyline, Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp is the kind of place that makes you breathe more slowly from the moment you arrive.
We had come to the end of a busy Kenya safari circuit by the time we reached Tulia. The Mara had been extraordinary, Laikipia had been moving, and we were carrying several days of early starts and long drives. What Tulia gave us was something different and exactly what we needed: a place to be still inside the wilderness, with comfort and space and an Amboseli evening that stretched out like a gift.

The Camp

Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp comprises 20 classic, large tents arranged to give each guest a private experience of the landscape. The camp is positioned just outside the park boundary, which allows for the flexibility of walking safaris and off-road activity within the community area, while game drives into the park are easily accessed through the nearby gate.

Africa Bed of Roses Safaris had arranged for a honeymooner’s decoration in our tent on arrival: rose petals on the bed, a bottle of sparkling wine on the veranda, and a card from the camp team that was genuinely warm rather than formulaic. Small things, but they set a tone for the whole evening.

Accommodation

The tents are large, comfortably furnished, and positioned to give each guest an uninterrupted view of Kilimanjaro. King-size beds, ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, private verandas with deck chairs, and thoughtful in-room amenities make the experience feel genuinely luxurious without being ostentatious about it.

The natural light inside the tents at different times of day is one of those things that photographs never quite capture: the way the afternoon light enters through the front panels and spreads across the wooden floor, warm and low, is the light of a place that knows it is in Africa.

Dining

The restaurant overlooks the open landscape and Kilimanjaro beyond, and meals are prepared with a freshness and care that suits the camp’s ethos. Breakfasts before early morning drives are warm, efficient, and properly fuelling; dinners are relaxed occasions where the quality of the food invites a second glass of wine and another hour at the table.

Bush breakfasts and sundowner experiences in the field can be arranged and are especially recommended for honeymooners who want to mark particular moments of the trip with something more intimate than a restaurant meal.

Activities

Twice-daily game drives into Amboseli National Park provide access to the park’s famous elephant herds, lion prides, and the wide variety of plains game that moves through the swamps and open grasslands. The camp’s guides are knowledgeable, patient, and deeply invested in sharing what they know about the landscape.

Walking safaris in the community conservation area, cultural visits to Maasai manyattas, and mountain-view sundowners complete the activity options. Hot air balloon safaris can be arranged through Africa Bed of Roses Safaris.

Why Tulia Is Ideal for Honeymooners

The combination of peace, beauty, and genuine comfort at Tulia creates the ideal conditions for a honeymoon stay. There is nothing here that demands energy you do not have. The mountain is there when you look for it. The elephants arrive in the mornings without being summoned. And the camp’s team works quietly to ensure that everything is as it should be.

Frequently Asked Questions About

Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp

Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp sits on a private 240-acre conservancy approximately 250 kilometres south of Nairobi, just outside the Kimana Gate on the southeastern edge of Amboseli National Park. The camp is positioned between the TAWI Conservancy and the Big Life Conservancy, giving it a secluded bush setting while remaining only 5.4 kilometres from the main park gate. Mount Kilimanjaro is visible in unobstructed panorama from the camp, and a private waterhole in front draws wildlife throughout the day.

By air, a chartered flight from Nairobi takes approximately 40 minutes to Amboseli Airstrip, followed by a 40-minute transfer to camp. By road, the journey from Nairobi via the Emali-Loitokitok tarmac road takes four to five hours. Africa Bed of Roses Safaris arranges all flights and transfers as part of your honeymoon package so the logistics from Nairobi to camp are fully handled.

The camp offers three accommodation categories. The Deluxe Tents with Plunge Pool are the flagship option for honeymooners, each with a queen or twin bed configuration, a sitting area, a desk, an en-suite bathroom with double sinks and a rainfall shower, and a spacious private deck with a personal plunge pool facing Kilimanjaro. The Superb Tents offer a queen or twin bed, a sitting area, an en-suite bathroom with rainfall shower, and a private patio with mountain views. The Superb Family Tent provides two bedrooms each with their own bathroom, two desks, a shared sitting room, and two patios, accommodating up to four guests and suited to honeymooners travelling alongside family.

The programme covers the full range of Amboseli experiences. Game drives run as full-day, half-day, morning, and afternoon options inside the national park, with night drives available in the surrounding conservancies for nocturnal species. Hot air balloon safaris offer a sunrise flight over the Amboseli ecosystem with aerial views of Kilimanjaro and the wildlife below, and this is one experience Africa Bed of Roses Safaris particularly recommends building into a honeymoon itinerary. Guided bush walks cover ground-level photography, plant identification, and wildlife tracking with experienced guides. Bush breakfasts at sunrise, sundowner drinks at scenic locations, and bush dinners under the stars extend the safari experience into the quieter hours of the day. The camp’s spa offers Swedish and deep tissue massages as well as couples massage treatments, which suit honeymooners well after a long day in the field. Maasai village cultural tours and birdwatching across over 400 recorded species round out the offering.

The menu changes daily and draws on fresh produce from the camp’s own shamba as well as local markets, with the kitchen committed to reflecting the flavours of African cuisine alongside international options. Dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, and other preferences are accommodated with advance notice. The bar offers handcrafted cocktails, a curated wine and spirits selection, and freshly brewed coffee and tea available throughout the day. For honeymooners, the bush dinner under the stars is one of the most atmospheric dining experiences the Amboseli ecosystem offers, and Africa Bed of Roses Safaris can have this arranged as part of your stay.
