Your Romantic Itinerary Journey Unfolds

ARRIVAL DAY: NAIROBI

Touch down in Kenya’s capital where your personal guide awaits to whisk you to Hemingways, an elegant sanctuary in Nairobi’s tranquil Karen district. This sophisticated retreat offers a peaceful introduction to Africa with views stretching to the famed Ngong Hills.

Depending on arrival time, begin your wildlife encounters immediately with a drive through Nairobi National Park, where lions roam against a backdrop of skyscrapers, or meet orphaned elephant calves at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

As evening falls, savor gourmet cuisine prepared by world-class chefs in your elegant suite or on your private terrace. Rest deeply tonight, dreaming of the wilderness adventures awaiting tomorrow.

DAYS 2-6: MASAI MARA MAGIC

After breakfast, your bush plane awaits at Wilson Airport for the breathtaking flight to Masai Mara. Watch as endless golden plains and scattered acacias unfold below, your first glimpse of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuary.

Your home for the next four nights is the architectural masterpiece Angama Mara, perched dramatically on the Great Rift Valley escarpment. From your glass-fronted suite suspended 1,000 feet above the Mara Triangle, drink in panoramic views that stretch beyond imagination.

For four magical days, immerse yourselves in twice-daily game drives with expert guides who track predators and prey across this wildlife paradise. Experience the thrill of encountering lion prides lounging under ancient trees, leopards draped across branches, and cheetahs scanning the savanna from termite mounds.

Should your visit align with the Great Migration (July-October), witness millions of wildebeest and zebra in their epic journey across these plains, perhaps catching the heart-stopping drama of river crossings where crocodiles lie in wait.

For an unforgettable honeymoon moment, rise before dawn for an optional hot air balloon safari (additional cost). Drift silently above the awakening landscape as the sunrise paints the savanna gold, culminating in a champagne breakfast served in the middle of nowhere.

Between wildlife encounters, explore further dimensions of the Mara through guided bush walks, cultural visits with Maasai warriors, or photography sessions to capture your memories. Each evening, return to candlelit dining under star-scattered skies, the sounds of the wild a gentle backdrop to your conversations.

DAYS 6-10: DIANI BEACH BLISS

Bid farewell to the savanna as you board your flight to Kenya’s spectacular coastline. The landscape transforms dramatically below—golden plains giving way to turquoise waters fringed by coral reefs and palm-lined beaches.

Your coastal sanctuary awaits at Alfajiri, an exclusive collection of just three private villas nestled amid tropical gardens on pristine Diani Beach. Unlike conventional resorts, Alfajiri offers complete seclusion with your personal team—butler, chef, and masseuse—attending to your every desire.

Step from your elegantly appointed villa directly onto powder-soft sands. Your private infinity pool seems to merge with the Indian Ocean horizon, where traditional wooden dhows sail silently by.

These five blissful days are entirely yours to shape. Unwind with spa treatments in your villa, stroll hand-in-hand along deserted beaches, or simply luxuriate by your pool with a favorite book. For more active moments, world-class snorkeling and diving await just offshore, where kaleidoscopic coral gardens teem with tropical fish.

Allow your private chef to surprise you with fresh seafood feasts, perhaps served on your terrace under the stars, on the beach by flickering torchlight, or beneath swaying palms. Sunset becomes a daily celebration with cocktails crafted just for you as the sky transforms through impossible shades of amber and rose.

For those wishing to venture beyond this paradise, excursions to Shimba Hills Reserve reveal forest elephants and rare antelopes, while visits to coastal villages offer glimpses into authentic Swahili culture.

DEPARTURE DAY: TREASURED MEMORIES

On your final morning, linger over breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean before your driver escorts you to Diani airstrip. As your plane lifts skyward toward Nairobi for your international connection, reflect on the extraordinary journey you’ve shared, from wilderness encounters to beachside serenity, the perfect beginning to your life together.

Day 4 of your Mombasa Tour Package: Visit to Shimba Hills National Reserve

Your Morning Departure

After a nourishing breakfast at your hotel, we begin our journey to Shimba Hills National Reserve, located about an hour’s drive from Mombasa. As we travel inland, you’ll notice the landscape gradually transform from coastal plains to rolling hills, offering insight into the geological diversity that makes this area so special. The reserve sits at a higher elevation than Mombasa, creating a refreshingly cool microclimate that supports unique flora and fauna.

Discovering Shimba Hills

Shimba Hills stands as one of Kenya’s most distinctive conservation areas, combining coastal forest with savanna grasslands. This unusual blend of ecosystems creates a habitat unlike any other in East Africa. The reserve holds the honor of being one of the last coastal rainforests in East Africa and serves as home to the only population of sable antelope in Kenya, making it a crucial conservation area.

During your game drive, our experienced guides will help you spot and identify the reserve’s diverse wildlife. The area is particularly known for its population of elephants, which have developed unique forest-dwelling behaviors different from their savanna cousins. These elephants play a vital role in maintaining the forest ecosystem, creating paths that other animals use and dispersing seeds throughout the reserve.

The Sable Antelope Experience

One of the highlights of visiting Shimba Hills is the opportunity to spot the rare and majestic sable antelope. These striking animals, with their distinctive curved horns and black coats, are among Africa’s most beautiful antelopes. Our guides know the best locations and times to spot these elusive creatures, maximizing your chances of a memorable encounter.

Sheldrick Falls Adventure

Your journey continues to the spectacular Sheldrick Falls, where a guided walk through the forest leads to one of coastal Kenya’s most beautiful waterfalls. The moderate hike to the falls offers opportunities to spot various bird species and smaller forest inhabitants. Day 7 of your Mombasa Tour Package itinerary: Day Trip to Malindi

Day Seven is where the historic coastal town of Malindi reveals its treasures through a carefully crafted blend of marine exploration, archaeological discovery, and cultural immersion.

Journey to Malindi

Your day begins with an early breakfast before embarking on a scenic two-hour coastal drive to Malindi. The journey itself offers an intimate look at Kenya’s coastal landscape, passing through small fishing villages and sisal plantations that have shaped the region’s economy for generations. As we travel, your guide will share insights about the area’s development from ancient trading port to modern tourist destination.

Malindi Marine National Park Experience

Our first stop showcases the underwater wonders of Malindi Marine National Park. This protected area represents one of Kenya’s oldest marine parks, where coral gardens house an incredible diversity of tropical fish. The park’s unique location, where two ocean currents meet, creates ideal conditions for marine life to thrive. Whether you choose to snorkel in the shallow coral gardens or observe from a glass-bottom boat, you’ll witness the intricate ecosystem that has sustained coastal communities for centuries.

Archaeological Journey at Gede Ruins

Moving inland, we explore the mysterious Gede Ruins, where centuries of Swahili civilization lie preserved in elaborate coral stone architecture. These ruins tell a fascinating story of medieval African urban life, complete with palatial homes, mosques, and sophisticated water systems. As you walk through the ancient streets, now threaded with massive baobab trees, your guide will help decode the architectural clues that reveal how this sophisticated society lived, traded, and eventually disappeared into the forest.

Cultural Heritage at Malindi Museum

The afternoon leads us to the Malindi Museum, housed in a historic building that epitomizes the town’s architectural heritage. Here, artifacts and exhibits chronicle Malindi’s evolution from a major Swahili trading port to its role in Portuguese exploration and modern development. The museum provides crucial context for understanding how this coastal region has influenced Indian Ocean trade routes for over a millennium.

The Old Port Experience

Our exploration continues at Malindi’s Old Port, where traditional dhows still bob in waters once visited by Chinese trading vessels and Portuguese caravels. This working harbor offers insight into contemporary coastal life while echoing centuries of maritime history. The sight of fishermen preparing their nets and boats returning with the day’s catch provides a living connection to traditions that have sustained this community for generations.

Culinary Delights

Lunch in Malindi introduces you to the town’s renowned seafood tradition. We’ll dine at a carefully selected restaurant where fresh catch is prepared according to local recipes that blend Swahili, Arab, and Portuguese influences. This meal offers not just sustenance but an education in how coastal cuisine reflects centuries of cultural exchange.

Return Journey

As we return to Mombasa in the late afternoon, you’ll have time to reflect on how Malindi’s various elements – its marine life, archaeological treasures, and living traditions – combine to tell a rich story of coastal East Africa. The journey back often provides spectacular views of the setting sun over the Indian Ocean, creating a perfect conclusion to this day of discovery.

Items Excluded from Mombasa Safari Packages Price

Let Africa Bed of Roses Safaris clarify what’s not included in your Mombasa package, ensuring complete transparency in your travel planning. Understanding these exclusions helps you budget appropriately and avoid any unexpected expenses during your coastal adventure.

  1. International Travel Considerations

Your journey to and from Mombasa requires separate arrangements for international flights. This exclusion allows you the flexibility to choose your preferred airline and routing, potentially using frequent flyer programs or taking advantage of special fare offers. When booking your flights, consider arrival and departure times that align comfortably with our transfer schedule.

  1. Personal Expenditures

During your stay, you’ll likely want to purchase souvenirs, make personal phone calls, or engage in additional activities. These personal expenses remain separate from the package price. Coastal Kenya offers wonderful shopping opportunities, from traditional crafts to modern boutiques, so consider budgeting for these personal purchases. Tipping, while discretionary, is customary in the hospitality industry, particularly for guides, drivers, and hotel staff who provide direct service.

  1. Additional Dining and Refreshments

While your package includes full board meals as specified in the itinerary, any additional food or beverages outside these planned meals are not covered. This includes mini-bar items, between-meal snacks, and most importantly, alcoholic and soft drinks unless explicitly mentioned. Many hotels and restaurants along the coast offer excellent additional dining options that you might want to explore at your own expense.

  1. Travel Protection

Travel insurance represents a crucial exclusion that requires your attention. We strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and lost baggage. This becomes particularly important when traveling in regions where medical facilities might differ from those at home.

  1. Entry Requirements

For visitors from outside East Africa, visa requirements apply. These fees remain separate from your package price. The process for obtaining a Kenyan visa has been streamlined through an online system, but the associated costs and responsibility for securing the proper documentation rest with the traveler.

  1. Hotel Extras

While your accommodation includes standard services, additional hotel amenities like laundry, room service, spa treatments, or special activities carry separate charges. These services, though convenient, should be budgeted for separately if you plan to use them.

  1. Optional Experiences

During your stay, you might discover additional activities or experiences not included in the original itinerary. These could range from extra water sports at Diani Beach to specialized shopping excursions. While our guides can help arrange these activities, their costs remain separate from the package price.

Understanding these exclusions helps create a more complete picture of your travel budget. We recommend setting aside an appropriate amount for these additional expenses to ensure a comfortable and worry-free coastal experience. Our team remains available to help you estimate potential costs for any specific items or activities you’re interested in pursuing during your stay.

Remember that while these items are excluded from the package price, they represent opportunities to customize your experience according to your personal preferences and interests. We’re happy to provide guidance on typical costs and recommendations for any of these additional services or experiences you might wish to include in your journey.

  • September-October offers ideal conditions with fewer crowds
  • December-January requires advance booking due to high demand
  • April-June should be approached with flexibility due to weather
  • July-August provides excellent weather but with moderate crowds

Understanding these seasonal patterns helps you align your visit with your preferred activities and comfort level, ensuring your Mombasa experience matches your expectations.
