Tour Plan
Day 1 – Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Your safari will start with a pick-up at JKIA or your Nairobi hotel. You will then drive to Samburu National Reserve. On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator line in Nanyuki for a hemispheres demonstration. Proceed and arrive in time for lunch and Check-in at Samburu Ashnil Tented Camp. Freshen up and have some hot lunch. At around 4 pm, after having some time to rest, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive. The main highlights of this Reserve are the Samburu’s Special Five (also known as rare northern species); they include Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and Beisa oryx. Apart from Samburu’s Special Five, the Reserve is also home to a population of close to 900 Elephants, all three big cats (the lion, cheetah, and African Leopard), among many other animals. After the game drive, you will head to the camp to freshen up and proceed for a freshly prepared hot dinner. Later have overnight at the camp.
Day 2 – 2nd night at Samburu National Reserve
Today the program is very flexible; you have two options to choose from: Option one: Have an early morning game drive, return for a hot breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the midmorning at leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing. Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive. Finally, return to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay. Option two: You may have an early breakfast and proceed for a whole day game drive with packed lunch. Return to the lodge for dinner and turn in for the night.
Day 3 – Samburu to Ol pajeta concervancy
After breakfast at the camp, you will head to Olpajeta Conservancy. You will arrive at Ol-pajeta in time for lunch. Check-in at Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp. Freshen up and proceed for a hot lunch. At around 4 pm, after having some time to relax, you will head for an afternoon game drive. The game drive starts at the gate since the camp is inside the park. The conservancy is celebrated for hosting the only two remaining endangered northern white Rhinos in the world, houses Sweetwater’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya, Being East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary and home to the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, and leopard), After the game drive, you will drive back to the camp. You will freshen up and proceed for a warm dinner with soothing traditional music.
Day 4 – 2nd Night at Olpajeta conservancy
Today you will have a morning game drive after a hot breakfast. Return to the camp around mid-day and spend the rest of the midmorning at your leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing watching animals as they come to drink water at the water hole. Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive as you visit Sweetwater’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary to see Chimpanzee and the only two remaining northern white Rhinos in the world. Finally, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Olpajeta conservancy to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast at the camp, you will head to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will have a stopover at Nyahururu for a chance to see a 74 meters Thomson’s Falls. The oceanic breeze here is lovely. You will relax a bit as you take photos. You will then Proceed and arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch. Check-in at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge. Freshen up and proceed for a hot lunch. Around 4 pm, after having some time to relax, you will head for an afternoon game drive. The game drive starts at the gate since the lodge is inside the park. This park is renowned for hosting thousands, sometimes millions, of flamingos, hundreds of both black and white rhinos, and highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. Also, it has the best scenery and opportunity to see Makalia Waterfall. After the game drive, you will head to the lodge to freshen up and proceed for a freshly prepared hot dinner. Later have overnight at the lodge.
Day 6 – Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve
After having breakfast, you will exit the camp with a morning game drive. Later, you will head to Masai Mara, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. You will arrive at Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. Check in at Mara Serena Lodge and freshen up. Have some time to rest after having some hot lunch. At around 4 pm, proceed for an afternoon game drive. Masai Mara is a high highlight of every Safari in Kenya. It’s globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the great wildebeest migration or the 7th Wonder of the world. After the game drive, we will head back to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy dinner. Have your overnight at the lodge.
Day 7 – 2nd Night at Masai Mara Reserve
After breakfast, you will exit the camp with a packed lunch in hand to take part in a whole day game drive in search of the “Big 5” and other animals. In case your safari falls from July to October, you will have the privilege to witness the 7th Wonder of the World, the annual wildebeest migration, especially while crossing the crocodile-loaded River Mara. You will later return for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – 3rd Night at Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today’s program is also very flexible; you can choose between three options. Option 1: Breakfast and exit the lodge with packed lunch for a whole day game drive at the Mara Reserve, searching for the Big 5 and other animals. Option 2: Have an early morning game drive searching for the big cat and the killings, return for breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the midmorning at your leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing. Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive around 4 PM, searching for Big five and other animals. You may also choose an optional hot air balloon ride (USD 400pp) in the early morning. You will be picked up from your lodge and transferred to the balloon launch site. The experience takes about an hour. Later return to the lodge via Masai village for lunch. Around 4 PM, proceed for an afternoon game drive. Finally, you will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 9 – Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive to exit the park heading back to Nairobi. Depending on your flight back home, You will have an optional stopover for a boat ride in lake Naivasha followed by a walking safari in the animal sanctuary. You will proceed with your journey to Nairobi, where you will spend the day with optional activities depending on your flight schedule. Some optional activities in Nairobi include: – Visit the David Sheldrick Elephant orphanage. – Visit the Giraffe Centre – Dinner or lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant for meat lovers. – Visit Maasai Market.
