This fantastic itinerary offers a chance to see the highlights of Uganda without the long drives. After spending your first night in Entebbe you’ll fly to Murchison Falls National Park for game drives and boat safaris. Next you’ll fly to Queen Elizabeth National Park to enjoy chimp trekking and some safari. Finally drive to Bwindi National Park, home to the mountain gorillas.
Tour Plan
Day 1 – Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival in Entebbe you will be collected by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you may be able to explore Entebbe and the surrounding areas in Kampala this afternoon. You can chose to have dinner at the hotel or we can recommend good spots for food and drink around town.
Day 2 – Fly to Murchison Falls National Park
Today you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your flight to the legendary Murchison Falls National Park arriving at Pakuba Airstrip. Murchison Falls National Park, is Uganda’s biggest National Park and offers a large amount of wildlife. There is also the thundering falls as the Nile passes through.
Day 3 – On Safari
Today morning, you will have an early morning game drive. This is a beautiful drive in the open African savanna in search for Lions, Leopard, Hyena, Buffalo, Elephant, Jackson Hartebeest. Oribi, Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, and enjoy spotting various Bird species such as the Secretary Bird, Black Chested Snake Eagle, Tawny and Marshal Eagles Carmine and Swallow Tailed Bee-Eaters, and many more. You will then visit the top of the falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7meter gap and have breakfast. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride up the Nile, to Murchison falls, whence the park derives its name.
Day 4 – Fly to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Today you will drive to Pakuba Airstrip for your flight to Kasese Airstrip. Upon arrival in Kasese, you will drive today to the world-famous Queen Elizabeth National Park. Named after her Majesty the Queen of England, it is Uganda’s most popular and most scenic game reserves. It stretches from the crater-dotted foothills of the Rwenzori range in the north, along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha River in the south, incorporating a wide variety of habitats that range from savanna and wetlands and lowland forest. You shall have an evening game drive in the park.
Day 5 – Chimp trekking and Kazinga channel
After an early breakfast, you shall proceed to Kyambura Gorge for chimp trekking. Located approximately 1 km across – at its broadest point and about 100 meters deep, this gorge is actually drained by River Kyambura. The landscape is among the most impressive you will find in Uganda and it is swarmed with a rich wildlife bio-diversity that comprises of primates, wild animals as well as birds. The trekking is generally a 2-4 hr walk in the forest and will include an hour with the wild community of chimpanzees that have habituated. In the afternoon, you shall have a boat ride on Kazinga Channel. Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park, from the open Savannah to Rain Forest, dense Papyrus Swamps and Crater Lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward.
Day 6 – Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Depart for Bwindi National park in the Morning on your way; you will have a chance to have a game drive in Ishasha sector where the tree climbing lions are found, then continue to the home of the Mountain Gorillas, Bwindi National Park. Of Uganda’s Forested Parks, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is best known for gorilla tracking, but it also provides refuge to elephants, chimpanzees, monkeys and various small antelopes, as well as 23 bird species restricted to the Albertine.
Day 7 – Gorilla Trekking
This morning you will get up very early for gorilla trekking. Trekking the Mountain Gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6 hours, and is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas.
Day 8 – Return to Entebbe
This morning you fly back to Entebbe enjoying beautiful arial views of southern Uganda, the hills are thick with vegetation. You arrive at the airport to connect with your international flights home.
