This tour takes you to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is known as the best place in Africa for getting up close to free-ranging elephants. The sparse vegetation also provides excellent opportunities for viewing buffaloes, impalas, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests. The bird life is equally rich, especially in the park’s marshes and lakes. Later, you will proceed to Tsavo West National Park is known for bird life and for its large mammals though sparsely populated.
Tour Plan
Day 1 – Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
You will depart for Amboseli National Park via the Nairobi-Mombasa Road. The morning drive is via a typical African savanna country dotted with local homesteads and colourful Maasai herdsmen grazing their cattle. You will arrive in time for lunch and later venture into the park for the scheduled afternoon game-viewing drive. You will spot the free-ranging herds of elephants up close in the park. It is home to many other species such as African elephants, cape buffalos, impalas, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, Maasai giraffes, zebras and blue wildebeest among other African animals. Birdlife is also abundant, both large and small species. Weather permitting, Amboseli National Park offers a beautiful vista of the scenic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro which makes it a perfect site for photography. It is the tallest and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. You’ll go back to the booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Amboseli National Park
Another day to enjoy a full-day game-viewing extravaganza in Amboseli. With its reputation for active elephant sighting it’s easy to spot them roaming the plains in the morning and evenings. During much of the day, you can observe them splashing and foraging in Ol Okenya Swamp. You will also stop at the observation hill to view the sprawling breathtaking view of Amboseli. You may opt to have the full-day game drives or game drives in separate successions so that you may also have a chance to enjoy lodge facilities. The driver guide will be readily available to discuss your daily activities as per your preferences including an optional visit to a Maasai village at an extra cost. Every safari is different according to your wishes, likes, and expectations. Just let us know how you would like to customize your special journey. Your overnight stay and dinner will be at the booked lodge.
Day 3 – Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park
You will have an early breakfast then check out and proceed to Tsavo West National Park commonly known as the “land of lava, springs, man-eaters, and magical sunsets.” From the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal-clear water gushing out from the under-parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs, to the Shetani lava flows, Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. The savannah ecosystem comprises open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation, and rocky ridges including the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below. The attractions include elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalos, and diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near-threatened Basra reed warbler. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Later, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 – Tsavo West to Nairobi
You will have an early breakfast then check-out and proceed for the morning game-viewing drive as you exit the park. Thereafter, you will depart for Nairobi arriving in late afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel/residence/airport for your onward flight.
