Description
Amboseli National Park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. You’ll have an opportunity to see the stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Amboseli ecosystem, where you can see a wide array of animals, including the area’s renowned elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and many more while on the balloon safari. The Amboseli area provides some of the most balloon-friendly year-round weather in the world.
Tour Plan
Day 1 – Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
You will depart by road for Amboseli National Park, either via Mombasa Road and onto Emali-Loitokitok road; or from Mombasa Road onto Namanga Road. Both routes will feature smooth tarmac roads and all-weather roads. You’ll arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Amboseli National Park is situated south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed (Lake Amboseli) and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland. In the southern area, there are several small rocky volcanic hills. During the wet season, the vegetation is lush, with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms around the swamps of Ol Kenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok. Here, you are guaranteed to see at least a wide variety of herbivores as they graze and drink to their fill. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Oltukai Lodge Amboseli.
Day 2 – Hot Air Balloon Safari Over the Amboseli National Park
You’ll have an early morning pick-up from your hotel and be transferred to the Ballon Camp. You will check in at the Ballon Camp, be escorted to the launch field, and be briefed about the safety measures while on the safari. After completing his pre-flight briefing and checks, the captain will prepare the hot air balloon for take-off and gently take it to the skies for your magical balloon safari experience. During the flight, you will experience 360-degree views of Mount Kilimanjaro to the south and Amboseli to the north. After the flight, you will have breakfast at the Ballon Camp and be presented with a commemorative flight ascension certificate, signed by the captain as a memento of the Kilimanjaro balloon safari experience. On this day, you will still be at Amboseli National Park and have a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch at the Observation Hill. You will proceed to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 3 – Amboseli National Park to Nairobi
You will enjoy an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for your breakfast. After a relaxed breakfast and check-out, depart for a return road transfer back to Nairobi with a shortened morning game drive en route. Arrive in Nairobi by early afternoon [typically by 2.30 pm]. Drop off at your hotel or free onward transfer to the airport for your flight home.
